10th Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament Concludes with Grand Ceremony in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, 16 February 2025-The 10th Edition of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2025 concluded on a celebratory note with the Closing and Prize Distribution Ceremony held on 16 February 2025 in Kathmandu. The tournament, which began on 8 February 2025, showcased the talents of twelve teams from various clubs, highlighting the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie between Nepal and Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by a host of distinguished guests, including diplomats, sports officials, and representatives from civil society. Mr. Dhruba Acharya, Vice President of the National Sports Council of Nepal, presided as the Chief Guest and awarded the championship trophy to the Himalayan Cricket Academy, while the Angles Sports Academy received the runners-up trophy.
In his speech, Mr. Acharya lauded the Pakistan Embassy for organizing the event, emphasizing its significance in strengthening bilateral ties and providing a platform for emerging cricket talent in Nepal. He also congratulated the winning team and commended the organizers for their efforts in making the tournament a success.
H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, expressed his gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and organizers for their contributions to the event. He reiterated the Embassy’s commitment to promoting youth engagement and cultural exchange between Nepal and Pakistan through such initiatives. The Ambassador also thanked the Chief Guest, special guests, and the families of Embassy officials for their presence and support.
The event was graced by the presence of several high-profile guests, including ambassadors from Egypt and China, representatives from ICIMOD, the Bangladesh Embassy, and the China Embassy, as well as prominent figures from Nepal’s banking and cultural sectors. The ceremony also recognized the outstanding performances of players and officials, with awards presented by special guests.
The tournament, supported by sponsors Himalayan Bank Limited and Global IME Bank, concluded on a high note, celebrating the enduring friendship, cultural exchange, and shared love for cricket between Nepal and Pakistan. The successful organization of the event underscored the growing importance of sports diplomacy in fostering stronger bilateral relations.
