Kathmandu, July 19: The Asian Development Bank (ADB), Huawei Nepal and Vishwa Niketan Secondary School have jointly launched a Smart Classroom and Student Scientific Inquiry Skill Development Workshop aimed at promoting digital learning and improving access to quality education across Nepal.

The initiative was officially launched at Vishwa Niketan Secondary School in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, one of Nepal’s oldest and most respected public schools. Established in 1959, the school has long been recognized for its contribution to academic excellence and educational innovation.

According to the organizers, the project is designed to demonstrate how digital technologies can transform classroom learning and create more inclusive educational opportunities. Beyond introducing smart classroom technology, the initiative establishes Nepal’s first collaborative Smart Education platform connecting an urban school with schools outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The platform will enable students and teachers from different locations to participate in live scientific inquiry sessions, interactive classroom activities and real-time knowledge exchange. Through Huawei’s Smart Classroom solution, students in remote schools will gain access to quality science education, digital learning resources and collaborative learning opportunities with students at Vishwa Niketan.

The initiative will also facilitate collaboration among teachers by allowing them to exchange teaching experiences, share best practices and jointly conduct engaging lessons, helping bridge educational disparities between urban and rural schools.

The organizers said the partnership aims to serve as a model for the wider adoption of smart education in Nepal by leveraging digital technology to improve learning outcomes and expand educational access.
