KATHMANDU, July 28, 2026 — The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and the South Asia Network Operators Group (SANOG) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen technical capacity, foster community collaboration, and advance Internet development across South Asia.

The agreement, signed by Jia Rong Low, Director General of APNIC, and Rupesh Shrestha, Chair of SANOG, establishes a collaborative framework built around a shared vision: “A global, open, stable, and secure Internet.”

Under the MoU, APNIC and SANOG will work together to deliver joint technical training and capacity-building programs for network engineers and operators throughout South Asia. These initiatives will focus on accelerating the deployment of critical Internet infrastructure technologies, including Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), and Route Origin Validation (ROV), to enhance regional network security, resilience, and operational reliability.

To promote greater knowledge sharing and community engagement, the organizations will host APNIC sub-regional forums alongside SANOG conferences and provide reciprocal event support, including up to five complimentary registrations and invitations for each organization’s events. The partnership also aims to strengthen regional participation in the broader Internet community. SANOG will encourage greater involvement in APNIC’s policy development processes and community initiatives, while APNIC will contribute expert trainers and speakers to support SANOG workshops, conferences, and technical programs.

With closely aligned missions, audiences, and regional priorities, APNIC and SANOG are committed to building stronger connections among South Asia’s technical communities. Through this strategic partnership, both organizations seek to increase the region’s participation in global Internet governance, encourage collaboration among network operators, and support the continued development of secure, resilient, and future-ready digital infrastructure.
