Divya Jyoti Hydropower awards Contract for Electromechanical Works of 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project to Troyer AG

Kathmandu, Nepal — Api Power Company Limited has taken a major step forward in expanding its power generation capacity with the signing of a contract for the supply and installation of electromechanical equipment for the 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project, located in Besisahar Municipality, Lamjung District, Nepal.

 

The contract has been awarded to Troyer AG, Italy and Troyer Hydro Pvt. Ltd., India reputed European company specializing in hydropower equipment and technology. The agreement was signed by Hanspeter Schoelzhorn, Head of Sales at Troyer AG Italy, Pawan Dhakal, Chairman of Troyer Hydro Pvt. Ltd. India, and on behalf of the promoter company, Mr. Satish Neupane, Chairman of Divya Jyoti Hydropower Limited.

According to the agreement, Troyer will complete the supply, installation, and commissioning of all electromechanical equipment within two years, bringing the project to a stage capable of electricity generation.

For Troyer this is one of the biggest Francis turbines to be installed in Nepal and addition this project in its profile is one of the biggest milestones in the history of Troyer. As of now, two of the projects, Super Chepe- 9.05 MW and Thulo Khola -21.3 MW are already in Operation in Nepal while Mewa Khola -50 MW, Seti Khola- 22 MW and Syarpu Khola -3.3 are in the final stage of Erection and Commissioning. Further Nyasim Khola- 38.5 MW, Upper Khudi -26 MW, Sabha Khola B -32.25 MW, Luja Khola -24.98 MW, Upper Myagdi -46.25 MW, Upper Myagdi-1 53.5 MW and Doodhpokhari Chepe-11 MW after in different stages of Design and manufacturing. Besides that Troyer has stepped forward with establishing the warehouse in Kathmandu and establishing a strong local specialist technician team to support its client in Nepal with pro-active -/ and local services.

 

The Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project, with an estimated investment of approximately NPR 10 billion (1000 crores), will be financed through 30% equity from promoters and 70% debt financing from banks. Financial arrangements for the project have already been finalized. The project targets commercial operation within three years.

 

Electricity generated from the project will be connected to the 132KV bay at Udipur substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority, contributing significantly to Nepal’s national grid and supporting the country’s growing energy demand.

 

Earlier, Api Power Company Limited announced that it had decided to acquire Divya Jyoti Hydropower Limited, the promoter of the Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project, after conducting detailed technical and financial evaluations. Following the acquisition, the management and ownership of the project will come fully under Api Power Company Limited.

 

This milestone marks another major achievement for Api Power Company Limited in its ongoing commitment to supporting Nepal’s renewable energy development and strengthening the nation’s hydropower infrastructure.
