Kathmandu, Nepal –Kumari Bank Limited today announced the launch of its first debit card powered by Mastercard, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital and card‑based services. The launch reflects Kumari Bank’s strategic focus on delivering secure, convenient and globally compatible payment solutions to its customers.

The announcement was made during a press conference organised by the bank to outline this latest development and its broader digital banking roadmap. Addressing the gathering, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ram Chandra Khanal reaffirmed Kumari Bank’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric service delivery, noting that access to internationally accepted payment platforms strengthens both service quality and customer confidence.

Providing further details, Mr. Anish Tamrakar, Chief Digital Banking Officer, explained that the newly issued debit card can be used across all Mastercard-accepting ATMs and point-of-sale terminals in Nepal, India and Bhutan, significantly expanding convenience and accessibility for customers. He added that the card also enables secure online payments and international transactions, supporting the growing demand for digital commerce and cashless payments.

Mr. Tamrakar shared that Kumari Bank plans to introduce its own Mastercard credit in the near future, further strengthening its digital payments ecosystem. He highlighted that the bank has already been accepting Mastercard transactions through its ATM network nationwide since last year and with the commencement of issuing its own debit card, Kumari Bank’s end-to-end card service capabilities have been substantially enhanced.

The bank officials further emphasized that all card services adhere to global standards of security, reliability and customer convenience, ensuring a seamless and safe banking experience.

Customers will benefit from faster, more secure and efficient services delivered through Kumari Bank’s extensive network of 297 branches, 315 ATMs, 45 extension counters and 48 branchless banking units across the country.
