Kathmandu, Nepal —
Dileep Dhakal, Founder and CEO of Veel, a leading global platform for video marketing and creator collaborations, announced plans to launch a pilot project in Nepal during a panel discussion at Creator’s Mela, an initiative by the U.S Embassy Nepal that brings creators together to explore ideas, collaborate, and build skills for the future of Nepal’s creator economy. The pilot launch of Veel in Nepal represents a significant step toward supporting and strengthening Nepal’s growing creator economy by enabling brands and creators to connect, collaborate, and grow more effectively.

Dhakal was joined by Veronica Camacho, Demand Generation Specialist and UGC Creator from San Francisco, in a session focused on the global evolution of the creator economy and its implications for markets like Nepal. The discussion brought together creators, digital professionals, and industry stakeholders to examine how creators are increasingly becoming entrepreneurs while still facing systemic challenges around monetization, platform dependency, and brand collaboration.

The global creator economy is currently valued at over $250 billion, with rapid growth driven by short-form video, user-generated content (UGC), and increased brand investment in creator-led marketing. While mature markets such as the United States benefit from established systems and creator infrastructure, emerging markets like Nepal are only beginning to formalize these opportunities. Nepal’s creator economy is estimated to be valued at approximately $30-$40 million, supported by recent data showing creators earning over $25 million annually, highlighting its early stage nature and significant potential for future growth.

Speaking on the changing landscape, Dhakal emphasized the need for sustainable platforms that connect creators and brands more transparently.

“The creator economy today isn’t just about content—it’s about livelihoods, trust, and scalable systems,” said Dhakal. “Globally, creators are building full-time careers, but without the right tools and structure, many struggle to grow consistently. At Veel, we focus on creating ecosystems that support both creators and brands.”

Camacho added a creator’s perspective, highlighting how authentic storytelling and UGC now outperform traditional polished advertising, while also pointing out operational challenges creators face, including unclear scopes of work, delayed payments, and lack of standardized processes.

The panel also explored differences between the U.S. and Nepal creator markets, covering areas such as market maturity, pitching culture, and expectations from brands. Both speakers stressed that while Nepal has strong creative potential, creators would benefit from improved access to platforms, education, and global collaboration standards.

During the event, Dhakal officially confirmed that Veel will begin a pilot rollout in Nepal soon. Already established as a trusted creator marketing platform in the U.S., Veel aims to empower Nepali creators with brand opportunities while helping businesses leverage authentic video content at scale.

“Nepal has immense creative talent,” Dhakal noted. “Our pilot initiative will focus on building systems that help creators monetize their skills and enable brands to work with verified creators more efficiently.”

The session concluded with practical guidance for creators, encouraging them to develop storytelling, communication, and professional collaboration skills to build sustainable income streams over the coming years.

With Veel’s upcoming entry into Nepal, the initiative marks a significant milestone in connecting local creators to global standards reinforcing Nepal’s position in the rapidly expanding digital creator economy.
