Kathmandu, 29 November 2025 — The Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi, inaugurated and formally handed over a newly established computer laboratory to Gyanodaya Secondary School, located in Purano Kalimati, Bafal on the outskirts of Kathmandu. The facility, donated by the people of Pakistan, is part of Islamabad’s continued support for strengthening education and digital learning in Nepal.

The event was attended by prominent community leaders, government representatives, and social figures, including former Governor of Nepal and Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Dr. Deependra Bahadur Chhetri; Chairperson of the School Management Committee Ram Babu Koirala; Chairperson of the Teachers-Parents Association Debakhar Bhattarai; Ward 13 Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Dhruba Narayan Manandhar; Head of District Education Coordination Dr. Samantamani Acharya; Head of KMC Education Division Keshav Gyawali; and School Principal Vishnu Ghimire Rimal.

Participants expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding educational support to Gyanodaya School. The institution received its first computer lab from Pakistan in 2013, which has served students for more than a decade. The newly inaugurated lab is equipped with over 40 brand-new computers, new furniture, and upgraded flooring and will be used to deliver ICT education to senior students. The older laboratory, after refurbishment, has been relocated to the primary section to enhance early digital learning.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi lauded the school’s leadership, teachers, and community members for their dedication and effective management, which he said had produced visible and sustainable academic outcomes. Addressing graduating students, he encouraged them to remain connected to their cultural roots while embracing modern education, digital transformation, and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, innovation, and fintech.

Students and local leaders welcomed the announcement of establishing a Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Society at the school. They also appreciated the Embassy of Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the school’s music and sports societies—initiatives expected to further strengthen people-to-people ties between Nepal and Pakistan.
