Nepal has taken a significant step toward strengthening its global economic presence with its first-ever private sector participation at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, positioning itself as an emerging destination for investment, innovation, and trade.

At the summit in Maryland, Nepali companies engaged with global investors, U.S. officials, and economic development organizations to explore opportunities for market access, strategic partnerships, and long-term investment. The move reflects Nepal’s growing shift toward trade-led cooperation and deeper private sector collaboration with the United States.

During high-level meetings with representatives from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce, American officials emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties through increased business engagement.

Speaking at an embassy event, Deputy Assistant Secretary Bethany P. Morrison highlighted the positive momentum in U.S.–Nepal relations following recent high-level exchanges and reaffirmed U.S. interest in supporting a business-friendly environment and private sector growth in Nepal.

Chief Deputy Ambassador Sharad Raj Aran welcomed the Nepali delegation, expressing confidence in the global outlook and capabilities of Nepal’s private sector. Discussions with U.S. officials, including Jon Seo, focused on enhancing commercial engagement and easing market entry for Nepali firms.

Kailash Bijayananda, Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal, said the initiative would help Nepali companies accelerate their global competitiveness. He also acknowledged recent policy reforms by the Government of Nepal aimed at strengthening the ICT sector.

The delegation included five ICT companies—Biz Serve, Swift Fin, Codavatar, Green Tick, and Event Mo—each presenting expansion strategies that highlight Nepal’s growing strength in innovation and its pool of globally competitive talent.

Coordinated by American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal and led by Executive Director Amir Thapa, the participation underscores Nepal’s increasing readiness to engage with global markets and positions the private sector as a key driver of bilateral economic growth.
