Kathmandu, 6 June 2026 – Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited (SCBNL) marked World Environment Day with a tree plantation drive today at the Adinath Community Forest in Kirtipur.

Around 350 employees along with local community took part in the initiative, planting 500 saplings that included a diverse mix of fruit-bearing, flowering, and shade-giving tree species. The activity aims to enhance local greenery, support biodiversity, and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability.

The plantation drive commenced with the first sapling being jointly planted by Gorakh Rana, CEO & Head of Coverage at SCBNL and Kedar Basnet, President of Adinath Community Forest Users Group.

Mr Rana thanked employees for their enthusiastic participation in volunteering for a greener future and remarked, “This year marks 20 years of employee volunteering at Standard Chartered Bank, and we are proud to share that over the years SCBNL employees have helped plant around 40,000 saplings in the Lalitpur district, including the Kirtipur area.

While this number reflects today’s effort, it also adds to a much larger, long-term impact—one that continues to grow with every passing year. Each tree represents more than just greenery—it represents hope, responsibility, and our commitment to future generations.”

The tree plantation drive, an annual signature event has reinforced the Bank’s ongoing commitment to investing in future generations and fostering a strong culture of environmental stewardship, in line with the global World Environment Day 2026 theme: “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
