Kathmandu, Nepal – When a panel of seasoned industry leaders offered to invest in student-built businesses and expressed interest in hiring the young founders behind them, it was clear that something remarkable had unfolded at Premier International IB Continuum School.
Futurepreneurs: Putting Nepal on the Global Map, the school’s annual entrepreneurial showcase, brought together IBDP 1 & NEB Grade 11 students, industry leaders, and families for a compelling display of student-led enterprise. The program challenged students to conceptualize and pitch full-fledged business ventures rooted in locally sourced Nepali products — mirroring real-world startup ecosystems and giving young entrepreneurs meaningful, hands-on experience beyond the classroom.
Six innovative businesses were presented to a distinguished judging panel comprising Mrs. Birgit Lienhart, founder of KAR-MA Coffee; Mrs. Bini Bajracharya, founder of Abir and a Shark Tank Nepal participant; and Mr. Jitendra Ranjit, founder of Avani Advertising. The students pitched a mosquito repellent mist made from natural ingredients, a healthy furandana-based snack, a vegan dairy alternative product line, a dhaka fabric fashion venture, a pickle business drawing from all seven provinces of Nepal, and a sustainable wooden products line.
The response from judges went well beyond encouragement. The dhaka fabric venture, Dhakacouture, was awarded Best Pitch Overall. Both Dhakacouture and the mosquito repellent mist drew genuine investment interest from the panel, while the vegan dairy alternative caught the attention of KAR-MA Coffee as a potential procurement product — a real-world market validation for a student-built brand.
Mr. Ranjit, reflecting on the caliber of thinking on display, put it plainly: “In Grade 11, you are already thinking like MBA graduates. I would love to hire you as soon as you’re done with high school.”
It is precisely this kind of readiness that the school’s IB Continuum framework is designed to cultivate. By engaging students in live business challenges — from market research and product development to investor pitching — Premier International equips learners with the critical thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial confidence that are increasingly essential in today’s world. Futurepreneurs is one expression of that philosophy in action: an environment where rigorous academic learning meets real-world application, producing students who can hold their own in rooms with industry veterans.
Parents and attendees witnessed firsthand the professionalism and passion with which students presented their ideas — a testament to what becomes possible when young people are given the tools, trust, and space to lead. Futurepreneurs: Putting Nepal on the Global Map reaffirms Premier International IB Continuum School’s commitment to innovative education — inspiring students to think boldly, act locally, and envision their place on the global stage.
