DOHA: Nabil Bank organized an awareness program on safe and secure digital banking for Nepali migrant workers in Qatar. Over a hundred Nepali migrant workers took part in the program titled ‘Ghar Ta Nepal,’ held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Qatar.

The program was conducted in coordination with Nabil Investment Banking Limited and Nabil Stock Dealer Limited. Representatives from various departments of Nabil Bank engaged in an interactive discussion on remittance, deposits, digital banking, loans, investments, financial literacy, savings, and the utilization of financial services. A special segment introduced ‘Nabil Skilled Migrant Entrepreneurship Loan’, product designed to support returning migrant workers in starting their own businesses in Nepal.

Emphasizing the importance of sending money through formal channels, Nepali Ambassador to Qatar, Ramesh Chandra Paudel said, “Sending remittances through formal channels will not only safeguard the hard-earned money but also benefit the entire Nepalese economy.” He urged Nepali workers in Qatar to use official banking channels for remittances.

Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nabil Bank highlighted the crucial role Nepali migrant workers in the economic development of both Nepal and Qatar. He mentioned that after India, Nepal has the second-largest workforce in Qatar. Dhungana stated that the purpose of the program was to raise awareness about digital banking services, enabling Nepali workers to open bank accounts online using their Qatari mobile numbers, apply for loans, and invest in SIPs, mutual funds, and the stock market through the bank’s associated companies.

Emphasized the bank’s commitment to empowering the Nepalese diaspora Adarsha Bazgain, Deputy General Manager of Nabil Bank, said, “As Nepal’s leading financial institution, we recognize the immense contributions of Nepali workers abroad. Ramesh Bhatta, Chairman of the NRN Association, Qatar, also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of financial awareness among the migrant community. Additionally, Nabil Bank highlighted its incubator program, ‘Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship (NSSE),’which supports aspiring entrepreneurs in Nepal by providing training, mentorship, and access to financing.

The success of the event was made possible due to the valuable contributions of Mahendra Prasad Chamlagai, President of Nepal Business Association, Qatar, who played an instrumental role in coordinating and supporting the program.
