Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepali mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete Koshish Shrestha is set to represent the IFL Delhi Team in the upcoming International Fight League (IFL), India’s pioneering franchise-based MMA competition that is rapidly emerging as one of South Asia’s most exciting combat sports platforms.
Modeled on the successful franchise formats of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pro Kabaddi League, and the Indian Super League (ISL), the IFL brings together elite fighters from across the region under city-based teams, creating a professional and commercially viable ecosystem for mixed martial arts.
Shrestha, who currently holds a 1-0 professional MMA record, will compete for Delhi in a highly anticipated matchup against PrachandJamilya, an experienced fighter with an impressive 14-4 amateur record, representing the Mumbai franchise. The Delhi-Mumbai clash is expected to be among the marquee contests of the event.
The International Fight League has already achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the first Indian MMA promotions to have its events streamed globally through UFC Fight Pass, the world’s premier digital platform for combat sports. The organization is on track to host six major events in 2026, underscoring its ambitious vision to elevate MMA in the region and provide athletes with international exposure.
For Nepal, Shrestha’s inclusion in the Delhi franchise marks another important step in the growing recognition of Nepali fighters on the international stage. His participation reflects the increasing presence of Nepali talent in professional combat sports and highlights the country’s potential to produce athletes capable of competing at the highest levels.
As mixed martial arts continues to gain popularity across South Asia, Koshish Shrestha’s appearance in the IFL represents a significant opportunity to showcase Nepali fighting talent before a global audience.
