Lumbini Palace Resort Limited Partners with Marriott International to Launch Nepal’s First Five-Star Water and Eco-Resort

Kathmandu, Nepal |January 7, 2026: Lumbini Palace Resort Limited, a premier hospitality destination operating in Siyari Ward No. 5 of Rupandehi district since 2018, is proud to announce a landmark transformation. After three consecutive years of profitable operations, the resort has signed a formal Hotel Management Agreement (HMA) with Marriott International to upgrade and operate under the prestigious Lumbini Marriott Resort & Spa brand.
This collaboration marks a historic milestone as Marriott International’s first and only presence in Nepal outside of the Kathmandu Valley.
The agreement was finalized with Global Hospitality Licensing S.A.R.L. (Marriott International) in the presence of key leadership from both organizations. Representing Lumbini Palace Resort were Chairman Mr. Deepak Pandey and Managing Director Mr. Roshan Kumar Neupane. Marriott International was represented by Mr. Neeraj Govil (Chief Operations Officer, Asia Pacific), Mr. Kiran Andicott (Senior VP, Development South Asia), and Ms. Juhi Roy (VP, Development South Asia).
The resort aims to secure its official five-star operating license by the end of the current fiscal year.
Lumbini Marriott Resort & Spa is set to become Nepal’s first and only Water Resort, introduced with futuristic and high-tech amenities. The property will feature:
• State-of-the-art Musical Fountains and 3D Water Screens.
• Motor Boating and Mini Cruises.
• A dedicated Water Restaurant and Water Spa.
In response to global climate challenges, the resort is designed to be a Green Certified (Gold) Wellness Retreat and Eco-Resort. The project strictly adheres to international standards for environmental protection, energy conservation, and sustainable development. The resort is being developed as a Multi-Specialty Resort with world-class infrastructure to support all major sports played in Nepal, positioning the region as a hub for Sports Tourism.
Furthermore, the resort will distinguish itself as Nepal’s first Organic Five-Star Wellness Luxury Resort, promoting Naturotherapy and sustainable human health through organic-certified practices.
To honor the heritage of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha; the property will integrate a Buddha Theme Park, including:
• Mini Stupas and a Mini Buddha Museum.
• Dedicated Meditation Zones and Cultural Centers.
To ensure international service standards, the resort has appointed Mr. Vijayananmaran Sanmugam as Vice President of Operations and Assets Development. Mr. Sanmugam brings over 27 years of experience in national and international hotel management. Additionally, a team of globally renowned experts has been onboarded as Management and Assets Development Consultants.
The resort is positioned to become a premier destination for international conferences, destination weddings, and holistic tourism (Water, Eco, Wellness, Sports, and Culture). Beyond tourism, the project is committed to boosting the local economy through job creation and the promotion of local products.
Lumbini Palace Resort Limited also confirms that preparations are underway for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) to invite public investment in this landmark project.
